Learn moreHorní Suchá is a village located in the eastern corner of the Czech Republic, between the towns of Karviná, Havířov and Český Těšín in the Moravian-Silesian Region, near the border of neighbouring Poland.
Its development has been fundamentally influenced by coal mining. One of the key mining plants in the area was the František Mine. Coal mining took place here for more than a century and influenced not only the local economy but also the shape of the landscape. The mine was closed in 1999 as part of the decline in mining in the region, bringing significant changes for local people. Following the subsequent closure of the mine, the area was gradually transformed into the František industrial zone. The project was supported by European funds and local investment and is a model of the successful transformation of a mining area into a thriving economic centre. Today, it is home to a number of modern businesses and manufacturing plants from various industries.
The village is conveniently located close to larger cities such as Havířov (to the west) and Karviná (to the east), which ensures its good transport accessibility, both by road and local public transport.
