Hladké Životice is a small village located about 12 km north of Nový Jičín and 30 km southwest of Ostrava, the capital of the Moravian-Silesian Region in the Czech Republic.
Two railway lines pass through the village, a local one in the direction of Suchdol nad Odrou-Fulnek and a more important one in the direction of Přerov-Bohumín. The D1 motorway with exit 330 also runs through the territory of the village, where it crosses the first class road I/57 in the section Opava-Nový Jičín.
In addition to the exposed position on the corridor of the main transport routes, the close proximity to the district town of Nový Jičín and especially to Ostrava, the economic, commercial and cultural centre of the region, is important for the municipality.
